Cottesmore golf club's £4k cheque for children's charity
Outgoing ladies captain Pat Johns had a personal reason for choosing Winston’s Wish as the club’s charity of the year for 2015, after witnessing the effect unsupported bereavement can have on her students. The money raised will help fund the vital work that Winston’s Wish carries out with children bereaved of a parent or sibling.
Pat said: “As a teacher, I came across a number of pupils who had been bereaved of parents, siblings, grandparents and peers, who would have greatly benefitted from some support from Winston’s Wish. The ladies of Cottesmore Golf and Country Club gave tremendous support to this charity by raising money through raffles, auctions and filling Smartie tubes with money. I would like to thank them and all of the members at Cottesmore who contributed to this worthwhile cause.”
