Concern over clash of dates for new Petworth Festival

The food festival - part of the PetFringe events this year - is planned for July 9-10 and would involve the closure of the Market Square to traffic.
But the book fair which involves the delivery of 4000 books to the Leconfield Hall for the event from 10am-3pm, takes place on Saturday July 9.

Hide AdPetworth Town Council said it supported the food event and the square closure, but was concerned about the clash.
They have asked PetFringe organisers to discuss the ‘impasse’ directly with the Petworth Society.
Vice chairman Roger Hanauer said it would be impossible to hold the fair and would create ‘an awful lot of upset’.
He suggested it should be held in September when the original Petworth Food and Wine Festival took place.
