Funds raised will go towards the running costs of the medieval church, which amount to £2,000 per week, with additional funds needed for the ongoing major restoration work.
Mr Tompkin said: “There are no Government grants or any external financial support available towards the running costs of our historic major parish church, which is regarded as one of the finest non cathedral parish churches within England.”
