Celebrating the centenary of WI at Burgess Hill
Recently, the ladies sent 100 cushions to the breast cancer unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
They have also been working on creating a centenary sampler, which will be sent to the WI West Sussex Federation in Chichester as a permanent reminder of 2015.

Hide AdThe sampler was made by WI members Irene Samphier, Margaret Roberts, Christine Taylor and Muriel Jenkins and reflects the diversity of Burgess Hill Martlets WI’s activities.
The sampler depicts several activities, including a book group, a Scrabble club and a craft group.
Led by Diane Rabson, each member created an individual pennant that they either made themselves or a craft member made for them.
Each pennant showed the members name and interests and each one was on different material, often chosen by the members themselves.

When all 75 were completed they were joined to form bunting.
This was then displayed at the Cyprus Hall where the WI meets.
The Burgess Hill Martlets WI also had a talk from member Dot Wade, who discussed her day at the special WI centenary garden party which was held at Buckingham Palace in June.
