Across the weekend there were weaponry and armour demonstrations, including the chance for visitors to try their hand at archery. There were also displays from birds of prey, which included birds flying through a ‘human bridge’.
Castle manager Bryan McDonald said: “It was a resounding success. It was deeply enjoyable to see so many visitors taking an interest in the local history of the castle. The enjoyment and excitement of visitors throughout the weekend was palpable.”
Musicians Rough Musicke performed tunes from the period using a range of traditional and reproduction instruments, including bagpipes, recorders and tambourines.
