Joe Redman claims some of the walls in his housing association-owned house feel wet and the odour of mould is ‘breathtaking’.
“I have now had to move my daughter out of her bedroom and in with my two boys as the mould and the damp smell has become so bad that it is affecting her Raynaud’s and respiratory,” said Mr Redman, who lives with his wife and three children in a Hyde property in Brooks Lane.

“We have had to throw pretty much everything out of her room as this issue has ruined clothes and furniture.
“I, myself, have suffered six-plus asthma attacks which have left me hospitalised each time in the last year since this issue has started.
“Every morning I wake up and I’m wheezing and finding it hard to breathe.

Mr Redman said his wife had contacted Hyde a number of times over the space of a year about the damp and mould issues in the bathroom and his daughter’s bedroom, and Hyde’s initial response was to send a brochure for fixing the problems themselves, along with a damp monitor.
He said the flat roof above his daughter’s room was leaking after not being correctly repaired.
Hyde sent someone out over the weekend to look at the issue and said further appointments had been made to fix the problem.

“Issues with damp in a home can be complicated and involve extensive investigation to ensure that they are properly dealt with.
“We visited the property this weekend and have further appointments to carry out the work required.
“We hope to complete repairs by the end of this week.”
