Bognor Regis fire: 50 firefighters tackled ‘intense’ blaze

There are no reports of any injuries and the fire is now under control.
West Sussex Fire said Rescue Service was called to the Keith Jay store on London Road in Bognor just after 6pm this evening (September 16).

Hide AdA spokesman said: “On arrival firefighters were confronted with an intense fire involving the first and second floors and roof space of the building.
“Four fire engines were initially sent to the incident but additional appliances were immediately requested to assist including the aerial ladder platform from Worthing so that the fire could be fought from above and two of the county’s newest fire engines with a compressed air foam system (CAFS) on board.
“A total of twelve appliances from both West Sussex and Hampshire have been involved in the firefighting operation.
“The incident is ongoing but the fire is now under control.

Hide Ad“Relief fire crews are likely to be in attendance throughout the night.
“They are being supported by Red Cross volunteers who are supplying refreshments.
“An investigation into the cause of the fire is likely to begin tomorrow.”
