Hide AdCorinne began working for Sainsburys in Purley in 1976, moving to Bexhill in 1976 to work in the Buckhurst Place store.
Store manager Richard Hay told colleagues that Corinne had received a personal letter from Sainsbury retail director Ken McMeikan thanking her for her contribution to the firm over 40 years and for her hard work and commitment to the firm.
He believes her length of service and the fact that she has never taken a day off sick is a lesson to the rising generation.
He told Corinne: "When you started I wasn't even thought of!"
