St Oscar Romero Catholic School was marking Mental Wellbeing Day by organising a range of activities throughout the week.
It all started with a whole school assembly, where year-seven students gathered in the hall and the rest of the students joined via Zoom from their tutor rooms.

Hide AdActivities throughout the week included random acts of kindness, writing to or calling someone who lives far away, thinking about qualities of others the students admire, flash mob dances, yoga sessions, prayer and meditation including wellbeing pledges and prayer stations, a Kahoot quiz, knit and natter club with Miss Benson, fix your bike with Mr Smith, live music with Mr Challinor and walking around the school field to take in some fresh air.
Assistant head teacher Julie House, who organised the event, said: “It was wonderful how both students and staff took an active part in the week and supported each other in developing greater resilience, happiness and mental wellbeing.”
Staff spoke about the importance of mental health, including sharing their own personal experiences, and the students were introduced to wellbeing ambassadors Victoria Azeke and Ellena Meakins.
Everyone received a card which included the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, to complete as the week progressed. These included giving to others, getting active, connecting, getting mindful and keeping learning.
