Pupils at Broadwater CE Primary School were looking forward to welcoming people into their very own art gallery, showcasing a range of artworks by children from reception to year six.
Plans were scuppered by the coronavirus but an appeal to local businesses in Broadwater has resulted in the pictures being put on public display for all to see.

“The children have worked hard on their art and were very disappointed but thankfully these wonderful local businesses have rallied round. Some owners have even come in specially to open their closed premises so that we can go in to hang the art in their windows.”
Businesses including Muldoons, The Co-op, Brio Express, Noori’s Indian restaurant, Turner’s Pies, Best Health Food Shop, Findon Framing, Broadwater Green Post Office and the Guild Care charity shop are now displaying the children’s art in their windows, opening up the planned gallery to the entire neighbourhood.
Joanna said: “We are absolutely delighted with the response from local outlets, and so thankful to them.

“I felt that it was important that the children’s work should be celebrated as they had worked so hard on it.”
