‘We must support our local shops’ says Burgess Hill Town Council leader

Mr Eggleston said we must support our local shops as they reopen today (June 15), but we have got to be wise about how we do it.
“Social distancing is still going to be very important – we have got to get the right balance,” he said.

Hide Ad“From my personal business experience I know how difficult it is going to be for some businesses as we emerge out of lockdown.
“The business community in Burgess Hill has been doing all it can in the difficult circumstances and as leader of the town council I am very grateful to them.
“During the emergency some shops stayed open for our local people. And people have rediscovered their local town and village centre and how important it is when things go wrong.
“Having a town centre and village centre available is something to be cherished.”

Hide AdHe said the town council was doing a huge amount of work around trading spaces and bringing empty shop units back to life by this September.
He added: “Covid-19 has shown us that local community is essential and we have got to do all we can to keep our town alive and thriving.”
