Coming Year
THE longest night and shortest dayHas slipped away-The sun prepares to journey northWhile withered reed and wind-bent treeAwait a countryside rebornWith catkin, primrose, daffodilAnnouncing nature's Easter-dawn.
Today the year is poised betwixt
The winter dark and springtime light-
The negative, the positive,
What might have been and is to come.
The dance was glad, the dance was sad
But glad or sad the sun will shine-
Arise
Take heart
Empower the past, embrace the fear
Rejoice
Give thanks
Go forth in hope
To greet the coming year.
